For 20 years we have been bringing light, warmth, and life to our customers in Bulgaria. We celebrate this anniversary together with all our associates and partners, with whom we are dedicated to building a better future for ourselves and our children here in the country. We will continue to create new opportunities for development, to be a stable employer and a catalyst for positive changes in the economic and social environment.
In the period 2022-2024, EVN Bulgaria and WWF Bulgaria joined forces in a partnership aimed at restoring the riparian forest along the Maritsa River near to the town of Stamboliyski – a project with importance for the protection of biodiversity and sustainable development of Bulgaria. With joint afforestation initiatives and commitment to environmental causes, we together contributed to strengthening the banks, improving water quality and creating a better environment for people and nature.
We inaugurated the first photovoltaic installation that we built for our business client near the city of Plovdiv as part of our new sustainable services portfolio.
We passed the threshold of BGN 2 billion of direct investments in energy infrastructure and customer service, and we moved forward: we entirely modernized the production capacities of EVN Toplofikatsia in Plovdiv and digitalized the process of new connection to the electricity distribution grid in Southeast Bulgaria.
We invested in key energy infrastructure: in Plovdiv, we built one of the most modern substations of an entirely closed type – “Evmolpia” – and we opened a new dispatching centre – the first one in the country separate centre for grid management developed by an electricity distribution company.
We gave a boost to electromobility in Bulgaria. We opened three public charging stations in Plovdiv. We developed the free app, EVN2GO, for convenient charging of electric vehicles at EVN stations.
We carried out a campaign aimed at expressing our gratitude and recognition to those special people who bring new life into the light for the first time - midwives.
We devoted the year to education. Together with our partners from six high schools in Southeast Bulgaria, we launched dual education classes. As part of EVN for Bulgaria, we held seminars for career consultations for more than 2,200 students.
With a new name, logo and a separate web site, we distinguished the corporate identity of EVN Bulgaria’s network company – “Elektrorazpredelenie Yug”, abiding by the requirements for Unbundling (independent activity of the electricity distribution network operator within vertically integrated undertaking).
EVN Toplofikatsia presented a pilot project for Plovdiv to convert the heating installations in buildings from the old vertical type into a modern horizontal type.
On the occasion of our 10th anniversary, we created the programme EVN for Bulgaria. Through the programme we fund voluntary initiatives of our employees or social projects of external non-governmental organisations.
EVN Elektrorazpredelenie launched the project "Life for Safe Grid” and became the first infrastructure company in Bulgaria to be awarded a project under the LIFE+ programme of the European Union.
Open dialogue with our customers is important to us, so we established the EVN Customer Advisory Council. In Plovdiv we launched the innovative service of cooling by using the district heating network.
We continued to improve our customer care by launching the web platform for bill checking and electronic payment, EVN Online plus.
Our energy jewel, the new cogeneration plant of EVN Toplofikatsia, became operational. The Bulgarian state praised our contribution to the modernisation of heating supply in Plovdiv, and EVN received the award Investor of the Year 2011.
We multiplied our efforts towards corporate social responsibility. We joined UN Global Compact and project LIFE for the Burgas lakes.
We devoted the year to social responsibility. We launched an initiative to deliver energy efficiency training in primary schools. We also launched our long-standing programme for the conservation of storks in Southeast Bulgaria.
We optimised our organisation and created 40 local technical units of EVN in Southeast Bulgaria for better customer care and more flexible grid maintenance.
EVN Bulgaria's family expanded with two new companies: EVN Toplofikatsia in Plovdiv and EVN Trading. We also launched a 24/7 call centre for our customers - the first of its kind in Bulgaria.
People are the most important resource of every company. Our first investment was in them - we established EVN Academy and launched our annual internship programme “Youth with Future”.
After privatisation, Austrian energy company, EVN, acquired the state-owned EDC Plovdiv and EDC Stara Zagora. By uniting them, EVN Bulgaria was born.
