Energy market

In Bulgaria, the regulated and the free energy markets are currently still operating in parallel.
 
All enterprises connected to the medium and high voltage grid buy their energy on the free market.
 
As of 1st October 2020, companies connected to the low-voltage (LV) grid are obliged to purchase energy on the free market.
 
Until 10th June 2021, these types of company had the opportunity to select an electricity supplier and to enter into an individual contract with them or to remain with their current supplier and to continue to be served by them under the terms of supplier of last resort.
